Home Staging

Before placing your home on the market to sell, you must take an objective view of your surroundings just as a buyer will do. This is where home staging becomes invaluable. Being a real estate professional, I can advise you on home staging tips to help get your home sold quicker.

A few of the basics are listed below....

Declutter-a buyer wants to visualize their furnishings in the space, and if your home is cluttered, it will appear small and have the buyers wondering how furniture will even fit in a room.

Clean-make your home sparkle for perspective buyers....if you have pets especially, make sure the rugs have been professionally cleaned prior to listing so that stains and odors are eradicated. Bathrooms should be clean and presentable-buyers open the shower curtain/door to see condition of the bath/shower-make sure there is no mold or bathtub rings! No/handprints or stains on walls or ceilings, etc. A little elbow grease can help to make a great impression on buyers!

Paint colors-neutral is always best. Strong colors can put buyers off or they may feel that their accesories and furnsihings won't blend or match, so neutral is always a great choice. Warm, soft taupes or light sage greens are popular in may color schemes and seem to appeal to potential buyers. Paint is a low cost way to change the appearance of a room immediately and make it more inviting and updated.

Curb Appeal-another important factor in getting buyer traffic thru the front door . If your bushes are over grown, or your lawn brown and unappealing, the buyer quickly jumps to the assumption that the interior matches the exterior, and they either lose their enthusiam about going inside and want to just drive by and on to the next home to look at, or they start adding up in their head how much money it will cost to fix the yard! Make the buyers want to rush the front door with neat & attractive landscaping.
